The US consulate in Istanbul announced that security forces intervened today in a possible security incident at the consulate headquarters in the region of Istinia.
According to Turkish media, "two suspects tried to enter the US consulate in Istanbul, security forces arrested one of them, while the other escaped."
The consulate, in a statement posted on its official website, called on its citizens in Istanbul to "move away from the consular headquarters and its surroundings against the background of the incident."
To date, there has been no comment from the Turkish security authorities on the matter.
